Global development: Health and environmental issues

Health

Since the growth of activism related to access to antiretrovirals for HIV/AIDS in the 1990s, health has moved to the forefront in development policymaking, with a continuing high profile with donors, multilaterals, and the G8.

Baird's CMC has successfully undertaken strategy development, policy research, and advocacy for numerous clients in this area, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation.

Environment

The advent of widespread acceptance of CO2 being a major contributor to global warming has put environmental concerns high on the global agenda.

Baird's CMC has successfully undertaken strategy development, policy research, and advocacy for numerous clients in this area, including the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation and the Shell Foundation. Our senior consultants have advised governments on global environmental issues and international negotiations around various environmental conventions.

Project example: The Hewlett Foundation funded pathbreaking research on links between family planning in developed and developing countries and global warming. Baird's CMC's role was to take the research and communicate it to key audiences.
