Simon Bryceson

Slovenia

Simon is has a unique view of campaigners and those they target – as he’s worked as a communications advisor on both sides of the campaigning fence. A campaigning expert, Simon has an insider’s view of the way pressure groups and public interest campaigns work, how they achieve their objectives and influence policy. Simon has worked as a leading campaign strategist for Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, the World Wide Fund for Nature, the Red Cross and many others. On the other side of the fence, Simon’s insight and advice has been sought by those under pressure – from BP on climate change, to Rio Tinto on mining activities. He has advised the pharmaceutical industry on healthcare reform and the American chemical industry on communication in Europe.

Simon’s experience has enabled him to develop expertise in identifying the unspoken agendas of these groups and he uses this special insight to advise organisations likely to come under fire on the actions and strategies both these agendas may inspire.
He makes frequent presentations to industry on why pressure groups are so significant worldwide, how they work, why they are so attractive to the media and why they are so influential in politics. His services are called on by those needing to counter pressure group activity and those looking to initiate and sustain on-going dialogue with pressure and public interest groups.
Simon has a special interest in risk assessment, cultural competence and economic differences. He was Deputy General of the UK Liberal Party and was made a Member of the British Empire (MBE) in 1993 for his service to politics.
