James Swanson specialises in the analysis of strategic issues, technology transfers, research coordination and information analysis. John has worked at a senior level in defence and government policy and has considerable experience of coordination, management and implementation in the military, security and defence.
John worked as Director of Research in the Congressional US where he was responsible for the coordination of all internal staff research and commission funded research. John has also worked in the US Defense Department as Senior Policy and Military Analyst where he was responsible for an extensive portfolio of military and security issues and was responsible for development of Commission recommendations to US Congress and the President.
With responsibilities that included research into Chinese security and the changing relationship between the US and Taiwan John has expert knowledge of security issues, international relations and diplomacy in China and the far east.
John has also been instrumental in the development and coordination of US defense positions and policy over nuclear proliferation, nuclear disarmament and nuclear policy. John also developed defence recommendations on the ‘weaponization of space’.
