The Human Vaccines Project is a joint effort led by several collaborators including IAVI, `the Wellcome Trust and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, among others. The initiative’s objective is a comprehensive assessment of human immune responses to licensed and experimental vaccines in rapid, focused, and iterative clinical research trials.
This will potentially include a large number of experiments and the testing of thousands of antigens and their immune responses they induced in great detail. Overall, the goal of the project is to speed the development of new and improved vaccines for major global diseases such as HIV, influenza, cancers, dengue, and other infectious illnesses. The project aims to do this by creating a platform for screening related vaccine immunogens in humans to determine which are able to elicit the most effective and durable immune responses.
