One of Baird’s CMC’s recent clients is an international body whose mission is to accelerate the development of new/improved drugs, vaccines, microbicides and diagnostics against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, with a particular focus on phase II and III clinical trials in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The client is keen to get an accurate picture about the potential capacity for clinical research, the potential capacity to run clinical trials and the policy climate in each country in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Baird’s CMC is collaborating with RAND Europe for this multi-country project. RAND will conduct the desk research (using a research mechanism called bibliometrics) and a GAP analysis. This will build the foundation for Baird’s CMC’s portion of the project – fieldwork in 47 sub-Saharan countries.
Based on the research done by RAND, Baird’s CMC will create questionnaires tailored to the unique needs and conditions of each country. We will leverage our vast global network to identify appropriate people to carry out the interviews – some of which will be in person, and some over the phone. The questionnaires will aim to find out about the policy climate and capacity for clinical trials.
